Nimaya Resort & Spa is envisioned as a 5-star luxury resort, a contemporary sanctuary of stillness, rooted in Mandu’s poetic soul. Nimaya blends architecture, landscape and wellness philosophy into one immersive experience.
Stone textures and sweeping arches mirror Mandu’s historic monuments, while courtyards are lined with trees of sweet custard apples and guavas, terraces and open-air pathways invite light, breeze and silence to shape the guest journey. Interiors feature handloom textiles, earth-toned palettes and artisanal details, each chosen to reflect the natural drama and cultural depth of the plateau.
Positioned at the confluence of heritage, wellness and luxury hospitality, Nimaya is set to redefine Mandu not only as a historic destination, but as a retreat for restoration, reflection and renewal
Nimaya is built on a singular belief — that luxury is not escape, but reconnection. Every element of the resort is designed to help guests reconnect with themselves, whether through the stillness of a shaded veranda overlooking the valley, the restorative rhythm of a spa ritual, or the poetry of Mandu’s timeless monuments .It is a sanctuary where silence restores, nature grounds you, and every moment feels quietly intentional.
All rooms at Nimaya face the valley, offering uninterrupted views of the landscape from sunrise to sunset. The resort has been planned with minimal disturbance to the natural environment and follows a sustainable approach in its design and operations.
The property also celebrates local craftsmanship. Artisans from the region have contributed to various features of the resort — from hand-carved details to textiles and furnishings, ensuring that the spirit of Mandu is reflected in its spaces.
The Nimaya logo is drawn from the arches of Mandu, structures that have for centuries framed light, shadow and silence. The arch represents both threshold and embrace: a passage into retreat, and a shelter of timeless permanence. Rendered in a contemporary minimal form, it embodies Nimaya’s philosophy of heritage reinterpreted for the present.
When Ms RMDK Architects, under the vision of lead architect Deepak Kalra, conceptualised Nimaya Resort & Spa in Mandu, the intent was clear: to create a sanctuary that honours the terrain, evokes the past and breathes with quiet luxury. Drawing from Mandu’s architectural language, Nimaya has been envisioned as a modern Anand Mahal — an understated royal retreat where the architecture remains subtle rather than showy, embedded rather than imposed, allowing nature, shadowplay and the surrounding landscape to lead.
The journey into Nimaya has been designed to unfold slowly. The main arrival and reception building is set nearly 200 metres from the resort entrance, creating a sense of discovery as guests move deeper into the landscape. Placed at one of the highest points of the site, it opens to sweeping views of Mandu, best experienced from the reception verandahs and Mandu Ki Imli, the all-day dining restaurant.
Across the resort, each villa has been positioned to capture its own view of the valley while preserving privacy and stillness. The villas follow the natural contours of the land, ensuring that existing elements such as large rocks, hilly slopes and natural rainwater drainage paths are disturbed as little as possible.
Local stone, reclaimed wood, hand-carved accents and artisanal details form the resort’s material language, giving each space a tactile connection to Mandu. The soft arch motif, inspired by the region’s architectural grammar, appears throughout the resort in a contemporary way — not as revivalist design, but as a thoughtful reflection of Mandu’s built heritage.
Sustainability is woven into Nimaya’s design through local sourcing, mindful excavation, water recycling, low-energy systems, landscape restoration and collaborations with local artisans. The horticultural design reflects the same sensitivity, with locally sourced plants, trees and vegetation chosen over exotic species to protect Mandu’s natural ecosystem and give the resort an authenticity rooted in the land.
At Nimaya, architecture is not only about creating beautiful spaces; it is about honouring Mandu’s geology, memory and living landscape.
After five decades in hospitality, I’ve learned that true luxury isn’t defined by opulence, but by authenticity and care. Nimaya was created on this belief, that a resort should enhance its surroundings, not overpower them. Every element here reflects responsibility: energy-efficient design, water conservation and the planting of over three thousand native trees to restore Mandu’s natural balance.
Equally, Nimaya’s strength lies in its people. Local craftsmen, farmers and service teams bring skill and sincerity to every experience, ensuring our guests feel connected to both place and purpose.
At Nimaya, we aim to offer more than comfort, we strive to create a sense of belonging, where every stay renews the guest and supports the community that makes this place possible. We welcome every guest, whether arriving for a celebration, a retreat or simply a pause, to experience Nimaya as a way of life shaped by balance, beauty and belonging.
